Apparently I've become one of those people who seeks approval by submitting photos to groups on Flickr.
Well, only one group (so far, the Diabolic Lovers of Low Res and Booze). And only my "low-res" (camerphone) photos. My "real" photos, from the real camera, are not yet fit for judgment, even from a fairly easygoing group like the DBOLRLers (who only do low-res anyway).
They liked this photo I took on the bus, at night from San Jose to Santa Cruz, but they voted out my Big M at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History. Who knows how my next submission will fare... |

| Team in Training, Santa Cruz and beyond |
[Jul. 28th, 2005|09:54 pm] |
My dear francisb has joined his local chapter of Team In Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For his team, it means that they will be running the Honolulu Marathon
in December, to raise funds for cancer research. It's a cause
that is personal to him in more ways than one (as both a survivor and someone who has lost a loved one to cancer), and I know I have been affected by it as well.
francisb
(Len) has been running for longer than I've been alive, though he had
taken a break of sorts for a long time and re-started his beloved hobby
only a couple of years ago. It's been a fascinating process to
observe, on a personal level.
Last weekend he and his running partner ran in the Wharf to Wharf
race from Santa Cruz to Capitola. It would have been great to see
it in person, because it's just such a fun event. And as a team,
they had a blast and kicked butt.
It's great to witness his renewed committment to running, especially
for a worthy cause. And maybe just a little bit amusing that he's
become a minor local celebrity, as a runner who happens to be blind.
Feel free to visit Len's Team In Training fundraising page,
and consider contributing what you can. This represents a major shift for one runner, and helps improve the lives of so
many other people. |

| Boo! |
[Jan. 29th, 2003|08:06 pm] |
Hi, nice LJ people!
Haven't updated in a while... Dunno, I haven't found any snazzy quizzes to take, or interesting community posts to ponder.
No one's been banging down my LJ door begging for updates, either, which is ok. :)
I'm ok, too. Santa Cruz, CA is treating me well, I'm trying to be a student again, and I don't really miss New York at all. Two more weeks to be away... mmmm.
Bored? You could always go read my real journal, or something. No, there's gotta be something better to do than that... |

| MASH says |
[Sep. 28th, 2002|10:19 pm] |
The classic life-defining game MASH tells me:
You will live in Shack. You will drive a violet truck. You will marry Mike and have 1 kids. You will be a writer in Santa Cruz.
Ahem. So much for good life choices... |
