Is there any up-to-the-minute "police blotter" kind of web site out there, where I could research a given incident today, without waiting to see when or if it hits the news?

I'd just like to know the nature of the police investigation that held up the 4/5/6 today at rush hour and had me trapped in between stations for 20 minutes, dammit....

I don't expect there'd be something discussing the incident right now, but maybe a couple hours from now if I could look it up -- mostly to satisfy my own curiosity -- that'd be keen. |

| Office 2004 question |

Hi everyone-
I have a question about the main Office 2004 user identity. It's currently taking up 8gb on my hard drive, which seems way too big. It's all sitting in the database file. I use Entourage 2004 to retrieve my mail from two Gmail accounts and an exchange account at my university. One of my Gmail accounts is pretty large (about 1.5gb) but the other is not and neither is the exchange account. Any way you look at it, it's not 8gb of email. Doing some Googleing, I read that deleting email will not make the size of the database go down necessarily, but I wasn't clear on what actually will reduce it and try to keep it from corrupting (which I'm surprised it hasn't already).
How did this get so large, how do I reduce it, and how do I keep it from happening again?
Computer info:
pbg4,1.33ghz, 768 ram, 60gb hard drive with about 2.7gb free. It's running pretty slowly around here.
OS 10.4.11. Most recent Office 2004 updates are all installed.

Hi all,
I am 30 weeks pregnant with my first child and have been put on bedrest effective immediately. I had anticipated having more time to look for a pediatrician, but it looks like the the baby will be here in the next 4 weeks or so. I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a pediatrician they really like? I would prefer one in Washington Heights or Inwood, but am willing to go to the UWS as well. Bonus points if you know if they take GHI.

Ok, so like I've said before, I'm kind of...fluffy. Not so much Gaberial Iglesias fluffy, but you know, bigger fluffy girl...fluffy...yeah...and with that, there is that curse of your fluffy belly kind of...hanging over, above your hoo-haa, kitty, cookie, kootchy, va-jay-jay(technical term, ya know)...well, the other night I noticed it was hurtting. It started to get infected. Ah yes, how I love you, oh warm fluffy body and sweat. Good combo! But today, after my shower, I put on some baby powder, and it hurt no more! Or at least for a good while. I think I'll be baby-powder-ing it for a while. Gah.
Ok, instead of people going "Uuh....wha?" every time they comment, here's something easier. My belly fat hangs over my body, right over my vag. So being bigger, the skin fold there is more likely to get infected. Which is what happened. Pain ensues. Baby powder is your friend.
Hopefully this is easier to understand.
And does anyone else, have a sick fascination with eating and reading this community? Cause I certianlly do. Ugh, I love to eat and read gross things at the same time. Photos make it even more A+! |

Ok I have only read The library Policeman and The Langoliers. So Sue me. I was not really intrested in the movie Secret Window with Johnny Depp so I do not know why I would be intrested in the story. I just have not got around to reading Sun Dog yet which I will by this weekend. But The Langoilers is amazing... One of my favorite storys of all time. I loved the tv adaptation. I could just picture all there faces in the book... It was interesting that they added a character in the plane in the book sleeping in the back that was kind of funny. The visulization in the book was just as amazing as the tv version. I do not think it was that different. But I throughly enjoyed reading the story anyway. Especially all his theorys on how people dissapeared off the plane. That would be a real cruel joke if someone actually did that too a couple people on the plane. But now all the terrorism around the world that would never happen. It gives you a look on how time is not past or present but just now. And the past is getting eaten away. The end was amazing. When I started reading I just could not stop! The Library Policeman was wickedly cool although I did not really care for the molestation parts. Or how the policeman were homos that was kind of a turn off. Now I want to return these books on time. Hmmm I wonder why SK said this is for the Pasadena City Library. Are there Library Policeman there? Or a wicked old lady that eats people and harrases you? I should check it out. Anyway i enjoy reading SKS tidbits on how he came the make the storys.. He should do this with all his books... Ok if I think its good enough i will get back to you on Sun Dog. And also when I read Skeleton Crew I will be coming here. The best time to read his books is right before you go to bed.... But watch out because SKS storys seem to have a mind and magick of there own.... Monsters do exist... and you never know whats lurking in your closet.. or under you bed... |

Just got threw reading it stayed up all night. God I can't seem to put Stephen Kings books down! This is interesting this post is going to be quite long (sorry mods) What I did was take all the spades out of a deck of cards plus a joker. I shuffled the cards and dealt them. The order in which they came out of the deck became the order of the stories.Next collection:selected by Tarot. Right there I knew this was going to be a fun ride!Thats what SK posted at the beginning of the book. Autopsy Room Four was a great story reminded of that Alfred Hitcock episode of the man who was still alive but they didn't know it till he cried SK points that out also. It seems like he gets alot of his storys from AH. The Man in the Black suit was one of my favorites. I just pictured that horrible man lol. Reminds me of RF. Dark Tower fans will love The Little Sisters of Eluria... I also loved it because I Identify with Jenna alot. And I would love to play her if SK ever made a tv or movie adaption. Pet lovers will love LTS Theory of pets. Not really a horror story but fun. The Road virus heads north really really creeped me out it was one of the creepiest storys in the book. I could just imagine Randall Flaggs Face on that guy in the picture. (Gives me the willys) But I would love to own that picture anyway. Lunch at the Gotham Cafe is the story that inspired the hardback book cover i suppose. It was ok. The matre d was awesome. That feeling you can only say what it is in French should of been called DEJA VU. Kind of reminded me of the movie groundhog day. The end is always creepy. 1408 even though I seen the movie what an awesome book adaptation. The phone calls (I think) were creepier then the movie version. I love seeing how its diffrent then the movie... cool. Riding the bullet was an awesome story. I also loved the film version. Sort of reminded me of Quentin tarantinos "Death Proof". Lucky Quarter oh my god. That was just funny. The other storys I do not really remember "They seemed to have slipped my mind". I hope you check out this book its kind of a continuation of Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I also want to check out Skeleton Crew that came before Nightmares and Dreamscapes I can't wait to check out the mist story now that I have seen the movie. Sorry this was so long I just had alot to say. Oh and I apologize if I am a bad speller. |

MTV has a new reality series in the works that might just rival our love for The Paper. Remember all those over-privileged spoiled brats from My Super Sweet 16? Well, MTV has enlisted kids from past episodes to star in Exiled. The hook? In each episode, each one of the kids is sent to a different third world country to live with a family and "learn" the meaning of hard work and the meaninglessness of material possessions . The comments of the foreign families are priceless.

Archuleta advances to the grand finale of 'American Idol'

Even "American Idol's" singing prodigy, David Archuleta, wasn't sure about whether he sang well enough to make it to the grand finale of television's most-watched program.
Right after he sang in Tuesday night's episode - in which two of the three judges heaped him with glowing praise - the 17-year-old Murray teen sent a text to his friend Adam Ruben with sneaking doubts.
"My songs are all boring, FYI. Ha, ha," David texted his friend. "[Contestant, David] Cook dominated entirely and was amazing. But I'm glad they didn't criticize my singing."
Despite his reservations, David needn't worry.
The shy boy with the big voice that has captured the imagination of millions, was voted through to the grand finale Wednesday, becoming the first Utahn to ever make it to the finals of the No. 1-rated show.
He'll compete against Cook, the bed-headed rocker from Blue Springs, Mo., in the finale next week.
"He was at my house one day, and I remember telling him, 'David, you're music will go throughout all the world," said family friend Brett Hales, who also once was David's LDS bishop.
"I believed those words, but it's become so surreal now. Now I look at it and think, 'Whoa, it really happened.'"
It's been a nine-month musical journey for the teen as he went from the auditions in San Diego last August, to the next round in Hollywood, and finally on the show beginning in late January.
Not that David is a novice to the television singing competition biz. The teen also competed in - and won - another TV talent contest, CBS' now-defunct "Star Search," when he was just 12.
"He has always been so involved in music, and it's his first passion," said family friend Darleen Moller, who also is the PTA president for Murray High School, where David is a junior.
Avid watchers of the show say it's too close to call the winner of what has now been dubbed, "The Battle of the Davids."
But judge Randy Jackson was convinced after Tuesday's performance that David A. is "in it to win it." Fans will know for certain when the seventh-season "American Idol" is crowned next week.
"He will be more surprised than anyone if he wins this thing," said friend Ruben, "because every week he's always prepared to go home."

Stupid computers. They always break. Sometimes I think that all the heartache I avoided by quitting dating when I was 19 was re-routed into the technology in my life. I get so excited when I get a new computer, I think everything is going to be magically perfect forever, and then one day it lets me down. I'm shocked and confused, though not entirely surprised, and I approach my next machine with just a bit more skepticism, a little more baggage.
I hate to trash on an Apple machine, but my iMac went all wonky on my today. First it refused to switch users, and when I restarted, it refused to boot. It would give me an apple-and-spinning-gear screen, and after about a minute restart itself. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Praise the universe I have been backing up. I ran a disk repair, repaired permissions, and now I'm asking it very nicely to restore from the backup on my external hard drive. It says the time remaining is fifteen hours, but it was twenty-two hours about ten minutes ago. I'm just sitting here (on my iBook, Nina), waiting for it to finish. Staring, willing it to work, like one might stare at a phone, willing it to ring.
Hmm. Back up to seventeen hours. I suppose I'll head to bed and scope it out in the morning. Maybe if I walk away, it will come crawling back to me? I haven't named the iMac yet; I'm now trying to remember the name of the guy who told me he wanted to stop dating me so he could date one of my sorority sisters freshman year.

Bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman's cable TV show will soon be back on the air.
Filming has begun on the fifth season, according to executives with A&E, the cable network that broadcast "Dog the Bounty Hunter. Reruns of the show will start June 25, with new episodes coming a few weeks later.
The show features Chapman and crew chasing down bail jumpers in Hawaii and other states. It was pulled from the air in November when Chapman was heard in a taped phone conversation using a racial slur in reference to his son's girlfriend, who is black.
A&E spokesman Michael Feeney says Chapman isn't a racist, and that network executives felt he deserves a second chance after working on redeeming himself over the last few months.

Smallville fans, consider this bullet officially dodged: Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that after weeks of tense negotiations, Allison Mack has sealed a deal to return next season as a series regular!

Although the specifics of the new contract -- which was signed just hours ago -- are being kept under wraps, I'm told it calls for Mack to appear in all episodes produced next season. As I reported earlier this week, the actress' reps were (wisely) using the imminent departure of Smallville vet Michael Rosenbaum as leverage in the negotiations. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the strategy paid off.

| Tech Gods Hate Ricky Day! |

Is it the official Tech Gods Hate Ricky day and somebody forgot to tell me???
So far I've had one drive die completely - SMART status is "failing" and OS X thinks it has no valid file system. Both of my other drives have had some softwarish errors (since fixed, yay Disk Utility). There's Something Wonky with the fans in my Mac Pro as well.
Oh, and the computer has locked up solid (grey "please press power button" screen) twice and it's only 2pm[*]. One of these times, of course, was while I was trying to record a friend and my doc on TV this morning talking about CFS. Did anybody else record it in a sharable way?
The drive that died was the one that had my backups on it, which was actually the Least Worst one to go if one was going to go. And it's under AppleCare warranty so the Apple techs will be visiting shortly. In the mean time I have connected a USB drive and I'm backing things up to that as I type because there's no way I trust this computer right now!
If you don't hear from me, you'll know the Tech Gods won :)

The 2008 Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend kicks off on Thursday with two events on the Peninsula.
The festivities began at 7 p.m. Thursday with a Celebrity Gala at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News.
The After Party is 10 p.m. at Twist Restaurant and Banquet Facility in Hampton.
Another main feature tees off on Friday in Portsmouth where the Portsmouth Celebrity Golf Classic is held at Bide-A-Wee Golf Course.
The event culminates on Saturday with a celebrity meet and greet in Virginia Beach and an all-star basketball game at Echols Hall at Norfolk State University.
Celebrity guests this year include Tatyana Ali (Fresh Pince of Bel-Air), Kyla Pratt (One on One), Miguel Nunez Jr. (Juwanna Man), Clifton Davis (Amen, That's My Momma), Kelly Williams (Family Matters) and Bruce Smith, Aaron Brooks and Ronald Curry, all of the National Football League, and others.
The events, which attracts dozens of celebrities and more than 5,000 participants annually, benefit the Virginia Scholarship and Youth Development Foundation, a non-profit organization that had its beginning in 1990 when Tim and Daphne Reid formed the Tim Reid Scholarship Foundation. The foundation awards scholarships to at-risk and needy high school students in Hampton Roads.
Norfolk-born Tim Reid, a longtime TV actor and producer ("WKRP in Cincinnati," "Frank's Place"), is a graduate of Norfolk State University. His wife, Daphne Reid, is also a veteran of TV, whose credits include playing the mother on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

In a new promo for season 4 of The Hills, Lauren Conrad has a new guy, baseball player Doug Reinhardt. But as quickly as it started, it has ended for Lauren Conrad and her baseball beau Doug Reinhardt, who’s featured in the upcoming season of The Hills.
A pal of Reinhardt’s says he realized things were over with Conrad at a recent birthday barbecue for Hills star Audrina Patridge (which other sources say will air on the show). “Brody [Jenner], Frankie [Delgado] and Doug got upset that Stephanie Pratt was there. Doug and Lauren got into a fight about it,” says the pal. “He just decided he’s over it. He thought that Lauren’s gotten a bit of a big head and didn’t like he way he felt he was being portrayed on the show.”
Reinhardt isn’t wasting any time easing back into the game. The minor leaguer for the Baltimore Orioles was recently spotted out to dinner with his longtime ex-girlfriend Allie Lutz, 22, a USC graduate, at L.A.’s STK and again Tuesday at the Coco de Ville lounge opening in LA.
In fact, Reinhardt’s been spotted getting cozy with a bevy of ladies all around town. At Goa in March, he chatted and exchanged numbers with a tall blonde. The next day at the Better Bacon-hosted bungalow to celebrate the artwork of disabled children, Reinhardt picked up another number. With pal Brody Jenner by his side, Doug immediately took notice of a beautiful brunette and asked for her number, to which her response was, “Buy a piece of art.” Not only did Doug buy a piece of art, he picked out three different pieces in just 10 minutes!
Reinhardt and Conrad briefly dated in high school (when he and Lutz were on a break) but things recently started up again at the suggestion of his pals. “Frankie thought that it would be a great idea if Doug and Lauren dated, he thought they were a good match,” says the pal.
The source says things officially ended earlier this month with an on-camera split, “Lauren went over to Doug’s house to officially breakup on camera.” Says the source, “I have a feeling you won’t be seeing them together anytime soon.”

May 14, 2008 -- ASHLEY Olsen knows how to spot talent - especially when it comes to guys. The "hotter" Olsen (according to Maxim magazine) was spotted cozying up to up-and-comer Justin Bartha at Patsy's restaurant on West 56th Street Saturday. "It looked like they were on a date," said our spy, who added their affectionate demeanor included "holding hands" and Bartha "touching her hair." They "stayed for about an hour" and Bartha was "a complete gentleman" who "opened the door for her when they left."

I KNOW you guys hate these questions for good reason. I did the wrong thing, time to pay up. I got it, and I agree. but with that in mind I have a question-
I was driving in the Midwood/Flatbush area and made a right turn onto ave J. apparently there are no turns allowed at any time and I got pulled over. I seriously, honestly, DID NOT see the sign. when I went back to check, yeah there are signs. I plead not guilty on the hopes that the cop won't show up. I am going to court tomorrow on West 8th by the aquarium... I am SO nervous. the last time I tried to fight a ticket the cop freakin LIED and there was nothing i could do about it. I am just wondering if there is anything I can do besides PLEAD AND BEG and state that I REALLY did not see the sign, to get out of this ticket. I dont even mind paying, but the points are gonna kill me.
any advice?

I have a website that I have built using dreamweaver. I have been able to add titles to the pages. But on my home page I have different frames set up and the titles I have created do not show up on that main page that contains frames. Anyone know how to fix this? www.eurekasoroptimist.org

Check out some just-released snaps of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon at their big blowout last night at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
The “eternally 12-year-old” newlyweds reportedly rented the entire theme park for a private party of only 100 guests.
Meanwhile, rumours are mounting that Entertainment Tonight helped flip the bill (and then some!) for exclusive coverage of the “private” event.
That $2.5 million dollar diamond ring certainly ain’t gonna pay itself off!

Almost 20 years in the business, and creativity is still flowing through Nasir Jones.
We've heard him rap from the perspective of a gun that has been used in several homicides. He's rapped from the perspective of a kid on a project bench. And on his upcoming album, Nigger, he's at it again, reciting lyrics from the viewpoint of an insect. One of the standout cuts he previewed for MTV News on Tuesday is called "Project Roach."
