It's been a little confusing this year...
At 2 a.m. on November 4, 2007, groggy Americans will turn their clocks back one hour, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST). The federal law that established "daylight time" in the United States does not require any area to observe daylight saving time. But if a state chooses to observe DST, it must follow the starting and ending dates set by the law. From 1986 to 2006 this was the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October, but starting in 2007, it is observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, adding about a month to daylight saving time. (See: New Federal Law.)

This explains a lot. I was completely confused this month because I remember DST starting before Halloween and could not figure out why it didn't happen this year. Didn't know the fedz had changed the lawz.
Wow, how did you miss all the hubbub earlier this year about making sure all of your operating systems, software, and handheld devices were patched, and all the warnings that the fallout would be worse than the Y2K threat? ;o)
We got confused last weekend, when Chris' Treo which he purchased this year but was apparently never patched, went ahead and set its clock back. Our 2007 wall calendar confirmed that the changeover was Oct. 28, so we spent a fair amount of time scratching our heads wondering why the TV networks seemed to have forgotten about it. | |
